General Summary:

The Food Service Worker is responsible for bakery/deli food preparation,customer service, and cleanup duties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Measure/weigh out ingredients accurately from recipes
  • Operate bakery equipment, including sheeter, scales, dough cutter, overwrap machine, bread slicer, etc...
  • Prepare menu items from written and verbal instructions
  • Assist with product deliveries
  • Take orders clearly and accurately via phone and in person
  • Set up food prep stations and assemble menu items according to industry standards (sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.)
  • Operate various kitchen equipment (i.e., range, ovens, deep fryer, griddles, meat slicer, soup wells, microwave oven, etc.)
  • Clean and mop floors
  • Operate cash register and credit card machine
  • Wash dishes by hand or by use of an automatic dish washing machine.
  • Clean, sanitize, and store pots, pans, and utensils to ServSafe standards
  • Adhere to universal precautions and ServSafe standards
  • Date and rotate stock as it is received, and dispose of outdated stock
  • Assist in inventory control
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize good listening skills and comprehend verbal instructions in English.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Knowledge of money handling
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures for workplace equipment.
  • Ability to follow simple oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to understand inventory systems.
  • Ability to follow proper procedures for handling chemicals.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to portion control.
  • Ability to follow workplace etiquette.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with others and adapt to change.
  • Sufficient physical strength and stamina to perform adequately in the assigned function.
  • Ability to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills 

Minimum Education, Credentials, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or completion of a CSG PWAT program/Transitional Employment Placement (TEP) 

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet program's needs.
